The moon is full, families come together and eat a meal including mooncakes and the 2nd most important Chinese festival is celebrated around the world. Some compare the holiday to the American Thanksgiving. The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, sometimes called "Moon Festival", occurs annually on 8/15 of the lunar calendar, near the Harvest Moon. The next ones are: Oct. 4, 2017; Sept. 24, 2018; Friday, Sept. 13, 2019; Thursday, October 1, 2020; Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021; and Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022.

Hello, I was looking for a way to email you, but didn't see any link on this site, so I'll comment here. Do you know of any mid-autumn festivals that are taking place in north Jersey? Anything happening in towns this weekend or soon? I saw in your profile that you're from NJ so I figured I'd ask. I couldn't find anything in Google except Chinatown, NY, which is too far. Great blog by the way!
For NJ celebrations, see the latest post - or email me at mus-mandarin at wubison.com .
Thanks for the latest post! I'll have to look into the local Chinese schools for upcoming events - there are supposedly a few around here.
